So I've been deliberating the place of my material (synthetics) and I've come to the conclusion that it is relevant in a different way than I've been trying to make it. From the artist I took only the concept of movement being the signifier of the human body. I believe that from the material I can pull only the concept of creating a new substance to accomplish the task of another substance. My synthetic escalator [new substance] accomplishes the task of a standard escalator [old substance] through a different arrangement of parts. It is also a synthesized stair in a new form. I won't be using synthetic parts to make my elevator. My material has led me to greater heights than itself.
